Why travelers stop here
Bongpyeong Memilchon is a makguksu (buckwheat noodle) specialty restaurant located in Samgyo-dong, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do. The interior is clean and the menu is simple. Since September 1989, for over 30 years, Bongpyeong Memilchon has been making its own buckwheat noodles. Additionally, all buckwheat flour, kimchi, chili powder, and pork are domestically sourced. The noodles have a subtle buckwheat aroma, with an appropriate chewiness, and are soft and savory. The signature dish, makguksu, is topped generously with radish, cucumber, seaweed, and sesame seeds. Both bibim makguksu (spicy mixed noodles) and mul makguksu (cold noodle soup) are served with dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth, allowing customers to choose according to their preference. Depending on whether one ladle or two ladles of dongchimi broth is added, it becomes bibim makguksu or mul makguksu, respectively, enabling each person to enjoy it as they like. The myeongtaehoe makguksu (pollack sashimi noodles) is also popular, offering a pleasant texture when eaten with soft pollack and a sweet, spicy, yet clean taste. The suyuk (boiled pork slices) uses pork belly, so the ratio of fat to lean meat is good, making it tender and savory. The meat has no unpleasant smell and pairs well with the spicy and savory shredded radish salad. Within 8 km, there are attractions such as the Birthplace of Empress Myeongseong, Yeoju Premium Outlets, Gangcheon Island, Geumeunmorae River Park, and several golf courses.
