Bongpyeong Beach has been open as a beach since 1984, operating annually from July to the end of August. The white sand beach is about 250m long, but it is also referred to collectively as the 10km stretch of white sand from Deokcheon-ri to Hujeong-ri, Bongpyeong-ri, and Onyang-ri. With pine trees, rosebays, a sandy shore, clean white sand, and clear seawater, it has all the conditions for a beach, but caution is needed as the water is deep. Nearby tourist attractions include Hujeong Beach, Deokgu Hot Springs, Sulfur Hot Springs, Seongnyu Cave, Freshwater Fish Exhibition Hall, and Bulyeong Valley.
