Why travelers stop here
One of the manned lighthouses built in the late Joseon Dynasty, it began operation in December 1909 and was designated as Busan Metropolitan City Tangible Cultural Property on September 16, 2003. It features a Gothic style, resembling French lighthouse architecture. The entrance has a protruding wooden sloping porch matching the width of the entry stairs, and the upper plaque bears the plum blossom pattern, a symbol of the Joseon royal family, reflecting a mix of Korean, Japanese, and European architectural styles. As one of the first buildings to use modern Western architectural styles and materials, and preserving much of its original form compared to other lighthouses, it is a cultural property of outstanding historical and architectural value.
