Banghwa Bridge

Banghwa Bridge is one of the Han River bridges built to enable Incheon International Airport to serve as a hub airport in Northeast Asia in the 21st century. With a length of 2.6 km, it is the longest road bridge among Han River bridges, and it is the 27th bridge over the Han River, designed and constructed with Korea's first long-span arch truss structure, excelling in artistry and functionality. The arch of the bridge borrows the soft image of traditional temples and tiled-roof house eaves, becoming the third artificial peak following Gaehwasan Peak and Deokyangaan Peak. Its geometric shape reminiscent of a giant aircraft about to take off and the enchanting night scenery reflected on the Han River waves at night evoke admiration from viewers. The bridge lights are turned on approximately from sunset to 22:00, allowing ample time to enjoy a drive while appreciating the bridge and Korea's nightscape. Not only is the night view beautiful, but the sight of the setting sun beyond Banghwa Bridge harmonizing with its arch at dusk is a breathtaking spectacle. Since Banghwa Bridge itself is located on the outskirts of Seoul, you can escape the congested city center and enjoy a leisurely bike path or walking trail.
