Namdaemun Ginseng Market

Namdaemun Ginseng Market refers to the area within Namdaemun Market where shops selling ginseng are gathered. About 20 shops face each other across the central aisle of the market. As stores that handle both wholesale and retail, general consumers can also buy high-quality ginseng at low prices. Prices vary slightly depending on the item, but are generally 20–30% cheaper than market prices. The reason for the low prices is that ginseng and ginseng processed products are directly traded with farmers from production areas and processing companies.

At the Namdaemun Ginseng Distribution Center on the second floor of the Namdaemun Theater building, fresh ginseng as well as ginseng processed products such as ginseng tea, powder, and jeonggwa (candied ginseng) are sold. In addition, it handles red ginseng products from the Korea Ginseng Corporation, honey, reishi mushrooms, traditional tea, brown rice, job's tears, vegetable enzymes, and other ginseng-related products and health foods. The prices of fresh ginseng and other ginseng products fluctuate depending on the year's harvest.
