Why travelers stop here
Goryeo Samgyetang is a samgyetang specialty restaurant that has been dedicated solely to samgyetang for over 40 years since its opening in Seosomun-dong in 1960. It has been run by the second generation of the family and is known as a representative samgyetang place, also recognized by tourists from the United States, Japan, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and other regions. The secret to its taste lies in carefully selected ingredients. The signature menu is samgyetang made with 4-year-old Geumsan wild ginseng cultivated in Geumsan and native chicken Ongchu raised at a specialized poultry farm. Ongchu is raised for about 4-5 days longer than regular samgyetang chickens, making it slightly larger and fully fleshed, resulting in a much softer and cleaner taste. It has low fat and light meat, so the meat does not fall apart even after long boiling. The exterior of the main building is a unique architectural form built in a Zen style where tradition and modernity meet, inspired by Suwon Fortress. From the 1st to the 4th floor, it harmonizes modern sensibility with traditional beauty, creating a sophisticated and clean space. On the 6th floor, there is also a traditional ondol room space that preserves the elegance of a traditional hanok.
