Haebangchon Village

Haebangchon was named after the liberation of Korea in 1945, when displaced people who left their hometowns, those returning from abroad, and those fleeing the war settled on the hillside below Namsan Mountain. It is a village spanning Yongsan-dong 1-ga and Yongsan-dong 2-ga, Yongsan-gu, around Namsan Mountain in Seoul. As one of Seoul's representative shantytowns, Haebangchon was designated as the Yongsan Redevelopment District in 1979 and underwent housing construction projects, but it still maintains the appearance of a shantytown with narrow alleys and hills. Through the Yongsan-gu Urban Regeneration Project in 2021, the environment was improved so that tourists can explore the village through themes, and an inclined elevator was installed at the famous '108 Stairs' of Haebangchon. Known as a filming location for the dramas <My Name is Kim Sam-soon>, <Itaewon Class>, <When the Camellia Blooms>, and <Sony Camera Advertisement>, it continues to attract many visitors.
