Yeouido Park

Opened in 1971 on the site of a former runway as Yeouido Plaza, Yeouido Park serves as a space for various national events and leisure activities. In January 1999, the black asphalt was removed and it was reborn as a green resting area. Adjacent to the broadcasting and financial districts, Nodeulnarut where Han River cruise ships depart and arrive, and the 63 Building, it is a cultural space where anyone can easily access nature and enjoy leisure and relaxation. The park features the Natural Ecology Forest, Culture Plaza, Grass Plaza, and Korean Traditional Forest, and displays a C-47 transport aircraft. Convenience facilities include a shop, restrooms, and an inline skate rental station. The Natural Ecology Forest is a green space designed to allow the structure and functions of the natural ecosystem to regenerate naturally. Centered around a pond, various organisms live here, allowing visitors to observe and learn about nature in the city center. Culture Plaza is where cultural events such as various festivals and performances take place, allowing citizens to participate together. Additionally, the plaza features a flagpole for the national flag and an airplane sculpture commemorating the Air Force, making it a meaningful location. The Grass Plaza, consisting of low hills where citizens can comfortably rest, includes lawns, walking paths, and a small pond. Evergreen and deciduous trees are planted around the lawn, allowing visitors to enjoy seasonal changes and greenery throughout the year. The space recreating the Korean Traditional Forest offers a serene Korean atmosphere. It features a pond with three small artificial islands symbolizing Seoul's past, present, and future, along with Samojeong Pavilion, which provides a charming view of the pond. There is also Yeouijeong Pavilion, offering a panoramic view of the traditional forest. The location of the C-47 aircraft exhibition hall is where the C-47 landed. On August 18, 1945, it landed at Yeouido carrying the Korean Liberation Army's Jeongjin Unit along with the U.S. OSS unit. This is where the Korean Liberation Army arrived in Seoul three days after liberation. The walking and bicycle paths of Yeouido Park are designed to circle the park's perimeter, and are connected to Hangang Citizen's Park via an underground passage located at Entrance 9.
