Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Piyang Kong Halmoni is located near Exit 1 of Seolleung Station on Line 2 and the Suin-Bundang Line. This is a biji (tofu dregs) specialty restaurant run by a grandmother from Pyeongyang for decades, where you can taste dwae-biji (thick tofu dregs) without removing the tofu. Only domestically grown beans ground by a millstone are used, and healthy meals are served without any seasonings. Kong-biji (bean dregs stew) and Piyang mandu (dumplings) are the representative menu items here, but the biji-jeongol (tofu dregs hot pot) made by the grandmother adhering to traditional methods is also a special menu that lets you feel the history of this place. When you order food, basic side dishes such as seasoned crab sauce that goes well with beans and biji, braised tofu, kimchi, perilla leaves, and lotus root are served.
