Bukseong-dong Original Jajangmyeon Street

인천광역시 제물포구 북성동2가

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Bukseong-dong Original Jajangmyeon Street is a food street located in the Incheon Chinatown area, known as the birthplace of Korean-style jajangmyeon. After the port opened, a Chinese settlement called 'Cheonggwan Street' was formed in Incheon, and Chinese restaurants such as Gonghwachun and Junghwaru developed a food culture for dock workers and citizens. In this process, Korean-style jajangmyeon, made by mixing noodles with stir-fried chunjang (black bean paste), was created and spread nationwide. Along the street, there are Chinese restaurants and related cultural facilities that preserve the history of jajangmyeon. In particular, the Gonghwachun building, which opened in 1905, is now used as the Jajangmyeon Museum. This street allows visitors to explore the history of jajangmyeon, which has become a representative Korean dish alongside the history of the Incheon Open Port.
