Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Hwangnyongsa Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Incheon Metropolitan City. As a venue for unification culture that actively practices inter-Korean Buddhist cultural exchange and patriotic Buddhism, the Great Buddha Hall of Hwangnyongsa Temple has an exterior that combines European architecture with Buddhist symbols and all elements of a traditional temple. The entrance and walls of the building are adorned with relief carvings of Buddhist statues, and the entrance and roof of the Great Buddha Hall feature the tiles and form of a traditional temple. In the temple courtyard, a large Buddha statue stands, and the birth and doctrines of Buddhism are carved into the stone panels as images, making this place akin to an exhibition space for viewing Buddhist sculptural art.
