Incheon Dohobu Government Office

Located at the foot of Seunghaksan Mountain in Munhak-dong, Michuhol-gu, the Incheon Dohobu Government Office is a government building that was responsible for administration during the Joseon Dynasty. The exact construction date of the Incheon Dohobu Government Office is unknown, but it is known to have been rebuilt in the 3rd year of King Sukjong (1677), as evidenced by the inscription 'Kangxi 16th year' found on the roof tiles during repairs to the guesthouse. According to the 'Incheon Bueupji' (1899), the Incheon Dohobu Government Office consisted of 15 to 16 buildings, including the guesthouse, the Dongheon (the magistrate's office), and the Inner Dongheon. However, these buildings were used for various purposes after the modern and contemporary periods, and when Munhak Elementary School was established, they were relocated to their current location and rebuilt, making the original layout and form unknown. Currently, utilizing the site next to Incheon Hyanggyo, the following structures are erected: the guesthouse, which houses the king's ancestral tablet and was used as lodging; the Amun (main gate); the Dongheon (magistrate's office); the Jungmun (office of the six divisions); the Gongsu (used as a kitchen and storage); the Sammun (gate for entering and exiting the guesthouse); and the Sajumun (gate used to enter and exit the Dongheon). Additionally, there are programs such as Tuho (arrow throwing), millstone turning, archery, jegi (shuttlecock kicking), yutnori (traditional board game), and reservation-based activities including making decorative rings, traditional tea experience, making hopae (identification tags), traditional costume experience, and the 'I am the Incheon Dohobu Magistrate' program.
