Geomeunnang

Geomeunnang, meaning 'black cliff' in the local dialect, extends approximately 1.5km eastward along the coast from the front of Daechengdo Dapdong Sports Complex. Unlike other areas, it features a distribution of dark rocks composed of sedimentary rock, distinct from the basalt of Jinchon-ri in Baengnyeongdo. The sedimentary rock appears black because it consists of mudstone, not conglomerate or sandstone, and this mudstone is made of dark-colored minerals such as biotite and chlorite. The coastal walking path installed along Geomeunnang well showcases the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of Daechengdo. <Source: National Geopark>
