Why travelers stop here
A museum operated by Inha University, established on March 1, 1976, to collect, exhibit, and research materials in the fields of domestic and international history, culture, folklore, and anthropology. Until 1983, it primarily focused on collecting and researching various documentary materials from Incheon and the surrounding Gyeonggi region. After 1984, it concentrated on collecting artifacts with the founding purpose and regional characteristics of Inha University, as well as transportation-related artifacts. Since 1994, it has emphasized the collection and survey research of domestic and international folklore and anthropological materials. From the late 1990s, it has collected and exhibited traditional stationery items such as Gobi (inkstone cover), Bunpan (writing board), Yeonsang (inkstone case), Byeoru (inkstone), Yeonjeok (water dropper), and Piltong (brush holder). It strives to develop into a central institution for East Asian history and culture, not just Incheon, and is also dedicated to research on the history and culture of the Pan-Yellow Sea region.
