Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Guryongsan (306m) is a mountain that shares a ridge with Daemosan, located in Yeomgok-dong, Seocho-gu, and Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It is not high or rugged, making it a good choice for a relaxed hike.
There is a legend that long ago, a pregnant woman saw ten dragons ascending to the sky and screamed in surprise, causing one dragon to fall and die while nine ascended, giving the mountain its name 'Guryongsan' (Nine Dragons Mountain). The one that failed to rise became water—a good timber and good property—forming the Yangjaecheon Stream.
