Why travelers stop here
Bupyeong Modumall, also called Bupyeong Underground Shopping Center, refers to four shopping arcades built underground at Bupyeong Station. Since the first underground shopping arcade was established in August 1978, it has expanded continuously and developed into a large-scale shopping center representing Incheon. Bupyeong Modumall covers an area of approximately 43,000㎡ and forms a huge underground city with a total length of 1,800m. It boasts about 1,480 stores, the largest number in the world for a single area. In 2015, the World Record Academy in the United States certified this world record. It has also been selected as a cultural tourism market and continues to grow as a platform leading culture and shopping. The underground shopping center sells everything from clothing, fashion items, general goods, jewelry, cosmetics, and mobile phones. With such a wide variety of products, you lose track of time while shopping. Although the space is vast, floor guidance marks in four colors (orange road, red road, green road, blue road) and unmanned information kiosks make it easy to find desired items. Despite being underground, bright lighting and air circulation systems create a cozy and pleasant shopping environment. The heating and cooling systems keep it cool in summer and warm in winter, which is a major advantage. Escalators for the disabled and elderly are also available.
