Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Located in Usan-ri, Toechon-myeon, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, Aengjabong is a mountain shaped like an oriole brooding over its eggs. From the summit, Yangjasan Mountain is visible to the east and Mugapsan Mountain to the west. Although the mountain is 667m and not particularly high, it feels like entering a deep mountain valley the further you go in, to the extent that Catholics hid here to escape persecution during the Sinyu Persecution. It is a well-known mountain among Catholics as Cheonjiam, the birthplace of the Korean Catholic Church, is located here.
