Mireuksa Temple (Yongin)

Mireuksa Temple is a temple belonging to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, located on Maguri Hill, a pass connecting Gogi-dong and Dongcheon-dong in Suji-gu, Yongin-si. It began its missionary activities in a small hermitage established by the chief monk Juheo in the late 1980s. In the Bosajeon Hall, a wooden Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is enshrined. This Avalokiteshvara statue is known as the largest wooden Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva statue in Korea, reaching 7 meters in height. On the rear wall of the Thousand-Armed, Thousand-Eyed Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, there are a thousand Buddha statues of Shakyamuni, the Buddha of the present world. On the eastern wall of the Bosajeon Hall, there are paintings of the Three Guardians and the Guardian Deities. Further inside, there is the Daejeokgwangjeon Hall, where Vairocana Buddha is the principal Buddha of the temple's main hall.
