Manggyeongam Hermitage

경기도 성남시 수정구 태평로55번길 72 (복정동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Manggyeongam Hermitage is the 74th traditional temple, located on the slopes of Yeongjangsan Mountain, which offers the best panoramic view of Seoul from Seongnam. It is known as a place where kings personally visited from the late Goryeo to early Joseon periods to pray for the nation's prosperity and the well-being of the people.

Upon ascending to Manggyeongam, you can see the Manggyeongam Rock-carved Seated Buddha, designated as a Gyeonggi-do Tangible Cultural Heritage. This rock-carved Buddha is engraved on the cliff of Manggyeongam Hermitage. Although the carving technique is rough and lacks many elements that a Buddha statue should possess, it is a late Joseon period rock-carved Buddha enshrined in a place of Buddhist historical significance, holding documentary value.
