Why travelers stop here
Like any other jjimjilbang (Korean sauna), this place allows you to sweat in a charcoal kiln and then rest on a flat wooden bench with a straw mat. In summer, you can cool off by playing in the stream that flows in front of the building. The unique charm of Jangheung Charcoal Kiln is its self-service restaurant. In the center of the restaurant, there is a communal charcoal fire provided free of charge. As long as you bring a grill pan and gloves, you can grill your own meat. You can sear the meat in the central hearth, then move the charcoal to a brazier and cook it thoroughly at your table. It is said that the meat, cooked over high heat to drain the oil, is an irresistible companion to rice. Although the shop sells barbecue ingredients such as meat, gloves, and grill grates, you can enjoy a more satisfying meal by preparing your own meat and side dishes according to your taste.
