경기도 하남시 서하남로418번길 122 (춘궁동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Hanam Dongsaji is a historic site located in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. It is a massive temple site founded in the early Goryeo Dynasty, and the size of its main hall is estimated to rival that of Hwangnyongsa Temple in Gyeongju. During excavation work in 1988, roof tiles inscribed with the characters 'Dong' (桐) and 'Sa' (寺) were unearthed, confirming it as a temple site. Additionally, gilt-bronze Buddhist statues, roof-end tiles, bronze Buddhist ritual items, and ceramics were excavated. The site features an octagonal structure with a diameter of 5.1m, building foundations, and unique architectural styles, providing valuable material for the study of architectural history and Korean Buddhist art history.
