Unyaksan Natural Recreation Forest

Hyeondeungsan (Unyaksan) is composed of rocky peaks and ridges at an elevation of 934.7m, and its beautiful mountain scenery has earned it the nickname 'Little Geumgang'. The remains of Gung Ye's fortress still exist, preserving the historical origins of the ancient Later Goguryeo. Additionally, around the main peak, Mangyeongdae, majestic rocks pierce through the clouds on each summit, and the broadleaf forests that shade the valleys turn into a sea of red foliage in autumn, hosting the annual Unyaksan Maple Festival in mid-October at the entrance of Unyaksan in Hwahyeon-myeon, Pocheon-si. The festival features a mountain god ritual, samulnori, flower exhibitions, and local product displays and sales, beloved by tourists. In mid-April, the magnolia, and in May, the azaleas and mountain magnolias create spectacular flower paths adorning every valley and rock. Moreover, along with Gwanaksan, Chiaksan, Hwaaksan, and Songaksan, it is one of the five great mountains of the central region, loved by many. Unyaksan Natural Recreation Forest is about an hour's drive from Seoul, offering easy accessibility, and is surrounded by various tourist attractions such as the National Arboretum, Sanjeong Lake, Art Valley, Herb Island, Morning Calm Arboretum, and Hantangang Sky Bridge, attracting many visitors during peak seasons and weekends. In addition to gardens and walking paths planted with various wildflowers within the recreation forest, hiking enthusiasts visit to enjoy the奇特 rocks of Mangyeongdae, the main peak of Unyaksan called Little Geumgang, and the mountain scenery that changes with each season.
