Silleuksagwangwangji

Silleuksa is a temple that preserves beautiful scenery and many relics and historical sites. There is a legend that it was founded by Great Master Wonhyo during the reign of King Jinpyeong of Silla, and it became a famous temple when Monk Naong passed away in the 2nd year of King U of Goryeo (1376). The multi-story brick pagoda, which gave Silleuksa the nickname 'Byeokjeol' (Brick Temple), silently overlooks the Yeogang River, and at the pavilion Gangwolheon (江月軒), named after Monk Naong's pen name, it seems as if poets and writers of old are reciting a poem. Based on the splendid natural scenery along the Namhangang River and various relics worth seeing, Silleuksa was designated as a tourist site in 1977, and since then, it has been frequently visited by many people.
