Uiwang Railroad Museum

Located near Uiwang Station on Line 1, the Uiwang Railroad Museum was established by Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) to widely promote the history and culture of railways, which are a major means of transportation and a part of people's daily lives. It is a place that evokes nostalgic memories for adults and provides beneficial education and experiential learning for children, attracting many visitors. The museum first opened in 1935 as the Railway Museum within the Yongsan Railway Employee Training Center under the Railway Bureau of the Japanese Government-General of Korea. The current railroad museum originated from the Railway Memorial Hall inside the Railroad High School practice facility, which opened in 1981. In 1988, the National Railroad Museum was newly built and opened at its current location, and a second hall was opened at Seoul Station in 1997. Later, in 2004, the Seoul Station hall was closed and relocated and integrated into the Uiwang Railroad Museum. It takes about 12 minutes by car or about 12 minutes on foot (847m) from Uiwang Station on Line 1, and there is a direct bus from the station.
