Ppallaegol

Ppallaegol is a village in the Suyu-dong area of Gangbuk-gu, Seoul. Its name originates from the fact that the valley on the eastern side of Samgaksan Mountain had abundant and clear water, which was used as a laundry place and resting area. This area corresponds to the valley of the Kalbawi Ridge, which stretches down from Bukhansan Mountain toward the city center. Inside the valley, there is a hermitage called Samseongam, and on the left hillside lies the grave of Gongcho Im Sang-sun, featuring a very unique tombstone. Since 2016, the 'Old Site Ppallaegol Festival' has been held here, and the name is still in common use today. It is located about 200 meters inside from the Ppallaegol bus stop, which can be reached by taking bus No. 03 from in front of Exit 3 of Suyu Station on Subway Line 4.
