Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Greeting Man is an artificial structure installed on Oknyeobong Peak (200m above sea level), located 4km from North Korea, following the creation of the Imjingang Riverside Trail. The Yeoncheon Greeting Man is 10 meters tall, depicting a giant facing north with its head bowed in greeting. In the future, if a Greeting Man is erected on Maryangsan Mountain in Jangpung, Hwanghae Province, North Korea, across the Imjingang River, the two structures will face each other and bow, symbolizing peace on the Korean Peninsula. The Greeting Man's 15-degree bow signifies respecting the other while maintaining one's own dignity. Nearby attractions include Yeoncheon Samgot-ri Dolmudum (stone mound tombs), Imjingang Dabsari Park, and Gunnam Flood Control Reservoir Crane Theme Park.
