Hwaseong Salt Spring

경기도 화성시 장안면 황골길 56-1

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Hwaseong Saline Hot Spring, established on January 22, 2003, is a place where you can enjoy saline hot spring water that combines seawater and fresh groundwater. The saline hot spring water is fossil seawater formed when seawater was trapped underground due to crustal movements and mixed with fresh groundwater. Unlike regular seawater baths or ocean water, this hot spring water, aged beneath the Korean Peninsula since the Cenozoic Era, contains 5 to 2,000 times the national average levels of sodium, calcium, magnesium, chloride ions, sulfate, lithium, strontium, and zinc. It is effective for various skin diseases, skin care, neuralgia, arthritis, gynecological disorders, and gastrointestinal issues. A distinctive feature is that, unlike seawater salt, it leaves no sticky residue after bathing, leaving the skin smooth. Facilities include basic shower facilities, indoor baths, an outdoor露天 bath, a UV steam sauna room, and an okusu (jade and pine) sauna room. Additional amenities include body scrubbing, haircuts, massage services, and a convenience store. In the hot spring lobby, cups are provided for drinking the saline hot spring water, and visitors can take up to 10 liters. The outdoor露天 bath is a cold bath and is not operated during winter. Inside the men's bath, exercise equipment is available on one side, allowing guests to enjoy both exercise and the hot spring.
