Myojeoksa Valley

경기도 남양주시 와부읍 월문리

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

In the southern valley of Baekbongsan Mountain, there is Myojeoksa Temple, which is said to have been founded by Monk Wonhyo during the reign of King Munmu of the Silla Dynasty. The long valley below it is called Myojeoksa Valley. Myojeoksa Valley follows the mountain path from Wolmun-ri, Wabu-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do to Myojeoksa Temple. The valley begins in earnest after passing Myojeokgyo Bridge. Along the winding mountain path, the width of the path repeats narrowing and widening depending on the section, and there are waterfalls with cool streams flowing down in various places, attracting many visitors. Due to the river gardening project that began in 2018, Myojeoksa Valley is also undergoing changes. The water depth of Myojeoksa Valley is not deep, so anyone can safely enjoy water play, and the water depth under the cool waterfall is about the height of an adult's knee. It is good for family water play.
