Baekbongsan

경기도 남양주시 평내동 산 97-1

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Baekbongsan (590m) was also called Jatbongsan or Myojeoksan, but after 1910, due to the abundance of pine nut trees in the Pyeongnae-dong area, it was renamed Baekbongsan using the character 'baek' (white) from pine nut. It is easily accessible as it is adjacent to the city center. Although its height is low, the mountain scenery is beautiful, and it offers excellent views as it embraces the Han River to the east. It is also famous for its sunrise and sunset, making it a popular mountain for many citizens. Namyangju City installed an observatory at the summit of Baekbongsan, making it a famous spot for many hikers to take photos.

Standing at the Baekbongsan Observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains forming Seoul and Namyangju, starting with Cheonmasan, followed by Heeyasan, Ungilsan, Yebongsan, Geomdansan, and the mountains forming the outskirts of Seoul, such as Gwanaksan, Bukhansan~Dobongsan, Buramsan~Suraksan, and others.
