Why travelers stop here
Located close to downtown Seoul and Anyang, Samseongsan Forest Bathing Area is a forest recreation area ideal for a light outing. It is mainly used as a hiking trail for Seongsan Mountain and Gwanaksan Mountain. The forest bathing area spans a 5km section from the entrance of Anyang Art Park to Anyangsa Temple and the 1st and 2nd observation decks, forming part of the hiking trail that connects to the summit of Samseongsan Mountain and Gwanaksan Mountain. Along the dense forest paths, convenience facilities such as exercise equipment and rest areas are available. Even after just a 30-minute climb, you can enjoy an open view as if you have reached the summit. In particular, the trail is gentle up to the mid-level, making it an excellent walking and trekking course for families with children. For beginners or family hikes, it is recommended to ascend to the mid-level rest area, Anyangsa Temple, or the 1st observation deck. If you enjoy hiking more, you can challenge yourself to the 2nd observation deck, Sammaksa Temple, or the summit of Samseongsan Mountain. Within the forest bathing area, you can visit Anyangsa Temple, a temple that holds the origin of the city name Anyang, with considerable scale. The temple preserves the Anyangsa Turtle Base and Stupa, designated as Gyeonggi-do Tangible Cultural Heritage. Nearby attractions include Gwanaksan Mountain, Cheonggyesan Mountain, Gwanggyosan Mountain, and Pyeongchon Central Park.
