Paldalsan

Paldalsan is 128 meters above sea level. Its old name was Tapsan, but after Joseon Dynasty founder Taejo (Yi Seong-gye) saw Tapsan, he called it 'a beautiful mountain with excellent accessibility in all directions' and renamed it Paldalsan. A walking path follows the fortress wall, and from the Seojangdae pavilion at the summit of Paldalsan, the city of Suwon and Hwaseong Haenggung Palace come into view at a glance. On August 15, 1948, the Independence Monument of the Republic of Korea was erected at Juposan, the site where the monument to Japanese police officer Noguchi had been destroyed. On March 1, 1969, the Samil Comrades Association erected the Samil Independence Memorial Tower on Paldalsan and moved the Independence Monument of the Republic of Korea next to the tower. Additionally, the Hwaseong Eocha, which runs between Paldalsan and Yeonmudae, offers a one-hour round-trip tour course around Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, adding to the travel experience.
