Why travelers stop here
Cheonmureung Dowon Arboretum opened in October 2012, with a total area of 210,298㎡ and 1,334 species of trees. At the entrance of the arboretum, there is a duck pond featuring the symbolic jagged rock cliffs and waterfall of Mureung Dowon Arboretum. Passing through the pond and waterfall purifies all worldly worries and impurities, and entering from the real world into the ideal world of Mureung Dowon reveals the arboretum. Upon entering the arboretum, there is a topiary garden where you can meet deer and giraffes decorated with various flowers. On the left low hill, the rock garden offers beautiful and diverse flowers rarely seen in the surrounding area, which can be enjoyed from early spring to late autumn. In the stream flowing through the center of the arboretum, various aquatic plants such as blue flag iris can be observed. Every June, the iris garden along the stream showcases various iris species and plants collected from domestic and international sources. Going upstream, you can see the herbaceous perennial garden with over 600 species of herbaceous perennials, including mountain chives, Danyang aster, and bellflower, whose above-ground parts wither in winter, leaving only roots to regrow in spring.
