Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Bunwon-ri is a village located in Namjong-myeon, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Most of the area consists of relatively gentle hilly terrain, and the western part of the village borders the Han River. Natural villages include Daechunamutgol, Angol, and Jangteo Village. Daechunamutgol Village was named for its abundance of jujube trees, Angol Village was named for its location deep inside Bunwon-ri, and Jangteo Village was named for the market that used to be held there. Bunwon-ri was originally a kiln site for Joseon white porcelain, but in 1976, the braised crucian carp recipe was registered as a Gyeonggi-do local intellectual property, and in the 1980s, it became famous nationwide through word of mouth, attracting many tourists. Currently, there are a total of 38 specialized braised crucian carp restaurants.
