Anseong Mirinae Village

A village located at the entrance of Mirinae Holy Site, offering experiences such as straw craft, hiking up Ssangnyeong Mountain, and even a lavender-scented bath. Nestled in a deep valley of Ssangnyeong Mountain (502m), this village was formed during the Sinyu Persecution and Gihae Persecution when Catholics gathered here to preserve their faith amidst severe religious oppression. They cultivated fields and sold handmade pottery to survive. The village name 'Mirinae' comes from the belief that the lights lit by Catholics at night resembled the Milky Way. Within the village lies a holy site with a church boasting a 100-year history, where the history of Catholicism can be explored, and 95% of the residents are Catholic. The village offers a variety of experience programs, and in front of the village, there is a reservoir ideal for fishing carp, crucian carp, and leather carp while meditating. The modest Ssangnyeong Mountain is also suitable for hiking. Entering the lavender greenhouse, where lavender, a type of herb, is grown, one is captivated by its deep fragrance.
