Taehwasan (Gyeonggi)

경기도 광주시 도척면 추곡리

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Located in Chugok-ri, Docheok-myeon, Taehwasan (664m) is a compact mountain with a distinctly pointed peak. Nearby, there is Gonjiam Smeori Gukbap Village and many fishing reservoirs, attracting increasing visitors. On the southern ridge of the summit, there is Baengnyeonam Hermitage, founded by Monk Ilyeon in the 12th year of King Chungsuk of the Goryeo Dynasty. Notably, below the Daeungjeon Hall, there is 'Janggunsu' (General's Spring), steeped in legend, which can be used as drinking water during hikes. Climbing the ridge trail through dense forests leads to a rocky observation deck. Looking down, the valley spreads out refreshingly, and beyond the valley, the ridge extending to Baengmabong is long and magnificent, opening up the chest. Regardless of which course you take, Taehwasan can be climbed without difficulty in about 3 hours.
