Why travelers stop here
This is a Bronze Age tomb located in Gocheok-dong, Guro-gu. It is situated within the Sinjeong-ri Earthen Fortress, a Three Kingdoms period earthen fortress on the hill behind Gocheok High School. This dolmen was first discovered in 1998 by a survey team from Seoul National University. Subsequent investigations by professors in related fields suggested that it may have been moved from its original location, as no stones of the same type as the capstone were found around it. Although not large in scale, a stone chamber has been identified, and the arrangement of supporting stones suggests it is a dolmen. The Gocheok-dong Dolmen is the only dolmen in Guro-gu and, along with nearby Gocheok-dong artifact scatter sites, provides valuable material for understanding the culture of the surrounding area during the Bronze Age. This site is located along the Guro Olle-gil course, making it a good spot to explore while taking a leisurely walk.
