서울특별시 관악구 신림동 산 56-2

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gwanaksan Mountain, towering south of the Han River in Seoul, forms the boundary between Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, and the cities of Anyang and Gwacheon in Gyeonggi Province. The mountain peak is composed of rocks, and its shape resembles a traditional Korean hat (gat), giving it the name Gwanaksan. It is easily accessible by public transportation and boasts majestic rock ridges, making it a popular course for hikers. Among the trails, the route to Gukgibong via Gwaneumsa Temple, a Buddhist temple founded during the Unified Silla period, is a short but intense course that allows you to enjoy the charm of Gwanaksan. Although there are many rocks and some steep sections, the summit offers an outstanding view that makes the effort worthwhile. There is also a rest area called the Excellent Scenery Observatory where you can relax. Gwaneumsa Gukgibong can be comfortably climbed and descended in about 2 hours for adults.
