Why travelers stop here
Gasaegioreum is a small, cone-shaped volcanic cone without a crater, lying horizontally northwest of Yeonmi Village in Ora-dong. Its north-south elongated ridge is densely covered with Japanese black pines, forming a forest. According to feng shui theory, the Minoreum to the south of this oreum is shaped like a dog, and this oreum below it is shaped like a puppy attached to its mother dog, hence it is called [Gaesaekkiorum] (Puppy Oreum). The northwestern slope of the oreum has long been considered a auspicious site, as it symbolizes the breast of a dog, with the mother dog and puppy appearing together.
