Imjingang River (Yeoncheon)

This river originates from the Pyeonggang and Icheon regions north of Gangwon-do, crosses the Demilitarized Zone, flows through Yeoncheon-gun and Paju, and empties into the West Sea. It is a river that first evokes the pain of division. Fishing in the Imjingang River is mainly done at Gunnamgyo Bridge and Imjingyo Bridge. Imjingyo Bridge is a famous spot where 'nuchigari' (also called nuchijabi) fishing takes place around Goku (Grain Rain) in April. The Gunnamgyo Bridge area has abundant water sources and fast currents, making it popular for tenkara fishing in rapids; float fishing is difficult due to the deep water, requiring end-tackle fishing. Maggots are a good bait.
