Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Hong Nan-pa House in Hongpa-dong is a Western-style brick building built by a German missionary in the 1930s, later purchased and lived in by composer Hong Nan-pa. This house, where one can feel the presence of Hong Nan-pa, preserves the original characteristics of 1930s Western-style houses. It is where Hong Nan-pa composed his representative works such as <Bongseonhwa> (Balsam) and <Gohyang-ui Bom> (Spring in My Hometown), and as the birthplace of his major compositions, it holds value as a modern cultural heritage. Hong Nan-pa is a figure included in the report on the truth of pro-Japanese anti-national acts under the Special Act on the Truth Investigation of Pro-Japanese Anti-National Acts during the Japanese Colonial Period. Address: 38, Songwol 1-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul (Hongpa-dong)
