Why travelers stop here
Located near Jisan Forest Resort Ski Resort, Jeil Sikdang is a Baekam Sundae specialty restaurant that opened in 1964 and boasts a family tradition of flavor passed down through generations. Baekam Sundae is one of the three major sundae (Korean blood sausage) varieties in the country, along with Byeongcheon Sundae and Abai Sundae. In Baekam-myeon, where one of the five largest cattle markets of the Joseon Dynasty was held, sundae was first made to satisfy the hunger of market visitors. Baekam Sundae, which contains plenty of vegetables and head meat with large, chewy ingredients, has become a local specialty. Jeil Sikdang is one of the long-established sundae soup restaurants located in Baekam Market (Baekam Sundae Street). It started with steamed buns and served various Korean dishes before becoming known as a sundae restaurant and transforming into a sundae specialty eatery. The representative menu items at Jeil Sikdang are Baekam Sundae and Sundae Gukbap (sundae soup with rice). The rich broth carefully simmered in a cauldron, the hearty sundae, and the excellent kimchi and cubed radish kimchi that accompany it are exceptional. It takes about 17 minutes by car from Deokpyeong IC. Jisan Forest Resort Ski Resort and Hantaek Botanical Garden are nearby, and other attractions include Everland, Korean Folk Village, Hanwha Resort Yongin Bezançon, Anseong Matchum Land, the UNESCO World Heritage sites Hwaseong Fortress and Yungneung and Geolleung Royal Tombs, and Mulhyanggi Arboretum.
