Ganwolsan

Approximately 1,500 years ago, there was a temple called Ganwolsa at the foot of this mountain, so the mountain was named Ganwolsan. Ganwolsan has an elevation of 1,069m, and surrounding it are mountains such as Gajisan, Goheonsan, Baegunsan, Neungdongsan, Cheonhwangsan, and Sinbulsan, all around 1,000m in height. Additionally, on the summits of these mountains at around 1,000m, gently sloping summit plains have developed, creating a unique landscape. On weekends, Ganwolsan is a popular destination for hikers from Busan and Gyeongnam. In early August, the area around the summit is covered in full bloom with mountain lilies harmonizing with short silver grass, creating a spectacular view. Below Gindungjae to the east, valleys such as Jeoseunggol and Cheon-gil Bawigol form the Ganwol Valley, flowing into the Taehwa River and reaching the Ulsan Plain. To the west, deep valleys like Naerijeong and Wangbonggol have been carved, and the clear water that never dries up flows into Baenaegol. In summer, every valley flowing from Ganwolsan is crowded with campers and vacationers seeking to escape the heat. Descending from Ganwol Pass toward Paraeso along the Singan-ro in Wangbonggol, there is a natural cave called Jungnimgul, which is now a Catholic pilgrimage site visited by many Catholics.
