Why travelers stop here
Galot refers to clothing made using persimmons, which are easily obtained on Jeju Island, and is a traditional Jeju costume that was commonly worn as everyday attire in Jeju. Galot is known for its excellent UV-blocking effect and breathability, as well as outstanding antibacterial and deodorizing properties, making it good for sensitive skin. Galjungi Natural Dyeing is a place that cultivates persimmons, manufactures and sells galot, and operates a galot-making experience center. It is a place that has preserved galot, a traditional Jeju costume and cultural heritage, for three generations, and all processes are done locally on Jeju Island. It is located below Mt. Sanbangsan in Sagye-ri, with a Dolhareubang statue placed in front of the entrance of Galjungi, and upon entering, you can see persimmon-dyed fabric. The grassy field at the back is the Galjungi Natural Dyeing Experience Yard, where persimmon dyeing experiences take place, and in addition to galot, including accessories produced here, bedding dyed with persimmon juice and mugwort juice is also available for purchase. Reservations are required in advance, and the experience is operated on a reservation-only basis for groups of 5 or more tourists and groups.
