Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Located at the entrance of Jikjisa Temple in Gimcheon, the Gimcheon World Ceramic Museum was established after a second-generation Korean-Japanese resident, Fukuda Eiji, donated 1,019 pieces of Western ceramics and crystal to Gimcheon City. It is a place where world-class ceramics can be seen within the city. The museum has a building area of 600㎡, with one basement floor and one ground floor, featuring three exhibition halls and one video room. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the Gimcheon World Ceramic Museum hosts various special exhibitions such as a ceramic painting experience exhibition, a special exhibition titled 'The Wind from Istanbul,' and a planned exhibition of the Four Gracious Plants (Sagunja) seen through ceramics. The museum houses a total of 1,063 ceramic pieces, including 30 Korean ceramics such as a white porcelain blue-and-white peony pattern jar and a celadon inlaid grass and flower pattern bowl, 503 European ceramics including Royal Crown Derby and Crown vases, and 512 crystal works including Lalique lions, Murano parrots, and Victorian candlesticks.
