Daejeonsa Temple

경상북도 청송군 주왕산면 공원길 226

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

This building is said to have been first built by Master Uisang in the 12th year of King Munmu of Silla (672). It was burned down during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War) and rebuilt in the 13th year of King Hyeonjong of Joseon (1672), and is currently used as the main building of the temple. When Bogwangjeon Hall was repaired in 1976, a ridge beam inscription (sangnyangmun) from 1662 was discovered. It is a small building with 3 bays in the front and 3 bays on the sides, with a ceiling decorated in a '井' (well) shape, and enshrines a Vairocana Buddha statue inside.
