Why travelers stop here
The Pollack is Daegu's first independent bookstore, opened in 2012. 'Pollak' in 'The Pollack' is the English name for pollock. Like the pollock, which is called by various names, it carries the meaning of creating independent publications that can highlight the individuality of each author, as well as a desire to engage in diverse cultural arts. Indeed, besides selling books, this place actively hosts writing sessions, film screenings, book markets, author talks, and performances by indie musicians. It is evolving beyond a simple bookstore for reading and selling books into a space for cultural exchange and networking among people. Thanks to this, goods that capture the bookstore's sensibility are also very popular. The Pollack, which first opened in front of Keimyung University and has now moved to Bukseong-ro, retains the original form of an old hanok, offering a warm and friendly atmosphere.
