Why travelers stop here
Located in Micheongol Natural Recreation Forest, south of Seoraksan National Park, Micheongol Valley is the upper reaches of Hucheon, formed by clear valley water originating from Seoraksan. Thanks to its beautiful mountain scenery, splendid views, and clean water, it is popular as a summer resort, but it is still less visited by people, so mountain trout and other species inhabit the area and the primeval forest is well preserved. According to a legend, in the past, water used to wash rice for cooking at a large temple flowed down into the valley, making the water appear white, and from that sight, it came to be called 'Micheongol (米泉谷)'. Nearby, the East Sea beaches and Seoraksan are close, making it an attractive tourist destination where you can enjoy both mountains and the sea.
