Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Seongnae-dong Catholic Church (formerly Samcheok Catholic Church) was established in 1949, and the current church was built in 1957 on a hill overlooking downtown Samcheok. Designated as a National Registered Cultural Heritage, Seongnae-dong Catholic Church is unique in that, unlike other churches, one must enter from the rear and walk around the church to reach the front entrance with the bell tower. This design allows the bell tower to face the downtown area rather than the church entrance, making it easy for people to find the church from a distance.
