Gangwon State Special Self-Governing Province, Cheorwon-gun, Cheorwon-eup, Oechon-ri 620-1
The Agricultural Products Inspection Office in Oechon-ri, Cheorwon-gun, is a cement-brick masonry building constructed in 1936. It has two floors above ground and a total floor area of 135㎡ (40.9 pyeong). Many features of modern architecture can be seen in its sash windows, the chamfering of the entrance, and the treatment of the corners at the tops of the columns and on the ceiling. This building is also said to have been used as a prosecutor's office that committed atrocities under the North Korean regime, including identifying alleged subversive elements and arresting anti-communist figures. During the Japanese colonial period, its original name was the Cheorwon Branch of the Grain Inspection Office. It is the only building among the ruins of the former Cheorwon urban area that has been preserved in an almost completely intact form.
