Why travelers stop here
The Bangdong-ri Goguryeo Tombs in Chuncheon are located at 816 Bangdong-ri, Seomyeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, also known as [Chunseong Bangdol-ri Tombs]. They were designated as a cultural heritage material of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province on September 13, 1985.
These are two tombs south of the grave of General Shin Sung-gyeom, a founding contributor of the Goryeo Dynasty. The two tombs were discovered by Professor Kim Won-ryong in 1981 and excavated by the Hallym University Museum in 1993. At the time of discovery, both tombs had already been looted down to the stone chamber floors, with the ceilings completely destroyed, and large boulders that once covered the ceilings were scattered in front of the tombs.
